Tanzania, Jhpiego With assistance from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Momentum Country and Global Leadership (MCGL) Tanzania programme is collaborating with the Government of Tanzania (GoT) through the MOHDGEC-IVD unit to increase COVID-19 vaccination coverage of the highest priority populations, integrate COVID-19 vaccination activities into primary health care, and strengthen immunisation programme resiliency to reduce COVID-19 mortality and morbidity.
Numerous initiatives have been taken to increase coverage and address barriers to uptake, including the skills gap in healthcare providers' vaccine delivery strategies, ineffective community mobilisation and engagement, inefficient data entry into electronic and paper-based systems, and insufficient community access to vaccination services.
To meet the goal, additional work must be done to incorporate routine immunisation with COVID-19. In order to mobilise and speed up the uptake of vaccination services at the community and facility levels, the MCGL project, in collaboration with R/CHMT, conducts campaigns and outreaches.
