The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is a Semi-Autonomous Agency in the Ministry of Works and Transport, established on July 1, 2000. It is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Tanzania mainland’s Trunk and Regional road networks as well as the construction of Airports.

The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS), on behalf of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, has entered into a Contract for the Upgrading of Ntyuka Jet.-Mvumi-Kikombo Jet. Road (76km) and Chololo-Mapinduzi (TPDF HQ) to Bitumen Standard, Section I: Ntyuka-Mvumi-Makulu (8.6km) and Section II: Kikombo Jet.-Cholo-Mapinduzi (TPDF HQ) (16 km).

The Regional Manager’s Office, TANROADS Dodoma, on behalf of the Chief Executive, intends to recruit qualified and competent staff to fill vacant posts on specified contracts for the aforementioned project in the following fields:

POSITION TITLE: WORKS INSPECTOR-ROAD WORKS (2 POSTS)

Entry Qualifications

Must be a Tanzanian Citizen who is a holder of a degree in one of the following fields: Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or equivalent qualifications from a recognised institution with working experience of at least three (3) years in a related field. Must be registered by ERB as a graduate engineer.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect road works to ensure compliance with technical specifications;

  • Inspect the implementation of QA/QC procedures in the project;

  • attend the contractor’s request for inspection;

  • Keep daily records for the contractor’s equipment and personnel;

  • Inspect compliance with site health and safety;

  • Prepare and submit a daily progress report;

  • Identify conforming or non-conforming construction materials or works;

  • supervise the control of traffic flow at the site; and

  • Perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

POSITION TITLE: OFFICE MANAGEMENT SECRETARY (1 POST)

Entry Qualifications

Must be a Tanzanian Citizen who is a holder of a Diploma in Secretarial Studies or equivalent qualifications from recognized institutions with good working experience of at least two (2) years in a related field.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain an office diary;

  • Prepare correspondence reports;

  • Facilitate site meetings;

  • Attend visitors;

  • Attend office phone calls, and

  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

POSITION TITLE: WORKS INSPECTOR-BRIDGE/STRUCTURE (1 POST)

Entry Qualifications

Must be a Tanzanian Citizen who is a holder of a bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent qualifications from a recognised institution with working experience of at least three (3) years in a related field. Must be registered by ERB as a graduate engineer.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect bridge and structure works to ensure compliance with technical specifications;

  • Inspect the implementation of QA/QC procedures in the project;

  • attend the contractor’s request for inspection;

  • Keep daily records for the contractor’s equipment and personnel;

  • Inspect compliance with site health and safety;

  • Prepare and submit a daily progress report;

  • Identify conforming or non-conforming construction materials or works; and

  • Perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

POSITION TITLE: MATERIALS TECHNICIAN (1 POST)

Entry Qualifications

Must be a Tanzanian Citizen who is a holder of a Full Technician Certificate (FTC) or Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent from any recognized Learning institution or college with working experience of at least two (2) years in a soil or materials laboratory.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To carry out in-situ testing;

  • To undertake laboratory tests and monitor test results and trends;

  • To undertake laboratory apparatus and equipment calibration;

  • To prepare material testing reports; and

  • To perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the Materials Engineer.
